Group Project: The metaphor; Innovation of Technology.

If we talk about technology, we cannot leave it without talking about innovation.  Without innovation, technological world cannot ever be developing. Same goes to Creative Multimedia, Innovation In technology means a lot in the development in Multimedia. The direct impact that we can see is of course in the software and hardware that used for making the multimedia creative. There are many innovations, and the professionals are still innovating the more functional and more efficient tools for Multimedia. For example, years ago, we can only play games by using joysticks, pressing the buttons and then the machine will do the command, but now, with the awesome innovations, now the consoles can let us control the game with our motion and it feels so realistic. Another real example is in the cinema. Lately, they innovated the 3D movie system where we can feel the 3D movies with using the special glasses. Who knows? In the future we could watch or play games just by wearing cool glasses and then control it with our mind. All of that will not be happening if there is no innovation within the technology.  So, technology will always be attached with innovation, same goes to creative multimedia which use technology a lot.

Metaphor:

I use SOUL as my metaphor how Innovation relates to technology.

So, basically, Innovation to Technology is like a soul to a body. Where we can say that without a soul, a body means nothing, it cant do any single thing, it will stay there forever without doing nothing significants. Same goes to Technology, without innovation, there will be no technology, everything will be just how it is, no changes and development.

Here you can see the innovations that has been made from time to time by the pro's in gaming system:

Innovation in Creative Multimedia

What is Innovation?

Innovation comes from the Latin innovationem, noun of action from innovare. The Etymology Dictionary further explains innovare as dating back to 1540 and stemming from the Latin innovatus, pp. of innovare "to renew or change," from in- "into" + novus "new".

Innovation can therefore be seen as the process that renews something that exists and not, as is commonly assumed, the introduction of something new. Furthermore this makes clear innovation is not an economic term by origin, but dates back to the middle Ages at least. Possibly even earlier.

The central meaning of innovation thus relates to renewal. For this renewal to take place it is necessary for people to change the way they make decisions, they must choose to do things differently, make choices outside of their norm. Schumpeter c.s. (~1930) seems to have stated that innovation changes the values onto which the system is based. So when people change their value (system) the old (economic) system will tumble over to make room for the new one. When that happens innovation has occurred. So innovation must be seen as something that does not something that is

On a lower level, innovation can be seen as a change in the thought process for doing something, or the useful application of new inventions or discoveries.[1] It may refer to incremental, emergent, or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations. Following Schumpeter (1934), contributors to the scholarly literature on innovation typically distinguish between invention, an idea made manifest, and innovation, ideas applied successfully in practice. In many fields, such as the arts, economics andgovernment policy, something new must be substantially different to be innovative. In economics the change must increase value, customer value, or producer value. The goal of invention is positive change, to make someone or something better. Invention and introduction of it that leads to increased productivity is the fundamental source of increasing wealth in an economy.

Innovation is an important topic in the study of economics, business, entrepreneurship, design, technology, sociology, and engineering. Colloquially, the word "innovation" is often synonymous with the output of the process.

However, economists tend to focus on the process itself, from the origination of an idea to its transformation into something useful, to its implementation; and on the system within which the process of innovation unfolds. Since innovation is also considered a major driver of the economy, especially when it leads to new product categories or increasing productivity, the factors that lead to innovation are also considered to be critical to policy makers. In particular, followers of innovation economics stress using public policy to spur innovation and growth.

Those who are directly responsible for application of inventions are often called pioneers in their field, whether they are individuals or organizations. When pioneers are followed by many other the dominant value system may be replaced by the new one. When this happens innovation has occurred a posteriori.

Novelty, Invention and Innovation, week 3!!

This week we learn about Novelty, Invention, and Innovation.

What are those?

NOVELTY
In the dictionary, we will find that Novelty is freshness: originality by virtue of being refreshingly novel. While in Wikipedia.com we can see that Novelty is a patentability requirement. An invention is not patentable if the claimed subject matter was disclosed before the date of filing, or before the date of priority if a priority is claimed, of the patent application.

In the other words, we can say that novelty is originality that has no patent in it. for example, when a 5 years old boy found a way to create a plane using paper, that is a novelty, because, for him it might be new, but not for everyone.

INVENTION

- Invention is something which creates the need.
- Take existing knowledge and create new ideas.

In my understanding from the class, Invention is if somebody creates something genuinely new that usable and functional for the people in its environment. We know so many inventors from the history, like Thomas A.F, Alexandre Graham Bell, etc.

INNOVATION

The INNOVATION point is the pivotal moment when talented and motivated people seek the opportunity to act on their ideas and dreams.- W. Arthur Porte

"Innovation is a new way of doing something or "new stuff that is made useful". It may refer to incremental and emergent or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations." - Wikipedia.com

For me, Innovation is a pioneer of all that exists. Not necessary to be unpredictable but stands out on all that exist because new and different. Innovation is a process. Innovation founds in products, methods, how people find new ways of doing things that have been existed.

We can hear or read there are so many new innovation of products, methods or whatsoever, because the old ages people have found the most.

As far as i know, a computer is also being innovated from just a calculation machine. And since then, the innovation on computer is being so rapid until now and we don't know when will it stop. They now even mix the telephone and computer in the small thing.

That is the examples of innovation.

Week 2!

As usual I reached class at 2 sharp. Some students were already there but the lecturer was not. Today the lecturer came a little bit late, almost 15 minutes. Lol. But its all right, the class started anyway.

As I mentioned in my last post, this week we would discuss more about the creative vs creativity. And yes, we did!

From Google.com, we can search and find that creative is having the ability or power to create; "a creative imagination" while in Wikipedia.com says creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight. So basically, in other words, we can say that creative is the the noun and creativity is the process of being creative.

Looking at those definition would answer our question last week. Why are we all creative? it is because we innovate many new things for our own sake almost everyday. Did anyone told you what to wear? what combination should you mix on your experimental cooking? no one, right? so that shows we are all creative.

There are 4 ways to be acknowledged as creative:
  • Person : The particular person has the specialty given by God to be creative. (is it true sir? :p)
  • Environment : Become creative because he/she do something different compared to the people around his/her environment.
  • Product : Becoming creative by producing unique products.
  • Process : (this one i did not really get the idea but the lecturer said we are going to this later by the trimester flow"
We also talked about brain. There are 2 sides of brain left and right. Some of people think using their right brain more while some others use more left brain. What is the difference?

Left brained
people is the one who is intelligent, they can process information quickly, and if they're diligent and hardworking, they might be great someday. Mostly, they focus in these things; Logical Sequential, Rational, Analytical, Objective, Looks at parts. Some of the examples of left brained people are, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jose Mourinho, and all other great people. But it would be dangerous if those intelligence used without the heart, it will be mean like Adolf Hitler and Mussolini, they are intelligent people who were not using their heart.

In the other hand, right brained people is more to creative people. In this group, the person think more to; Random, Intuitive, Holistic Synthesizing, Subjective, Looks at wholes. the examples are Leonardo Da Vinci, Mozart, James Cameron, etc whose good in more to art and creating new awesome things.

I think that is all for this week.

See you next week..!!

Week 1!

Well, the first class is quite good.. the lecturer MR. Ahmad Razi is very kind and funny. He taught well too. It was not boring at all.

So today's lecture was about "Introduction to Creativity"

But he started the session with a question "did anyone of you guys think what to wear before going to classes today?" then everyone silenced. Actually I did, but since no one raising their hands so I just let it go.

"Thinking is Tiring"
Yeah, the teacher said that thinking is tiring. Is it? yes because "Routine is NOT thinking". We just recall our activities that has been our habit, like when we go to campus, we just go out and take one shoes out of many shoes without even think will it look good on us. Yeah, we did not think, just recalled our memory based on what we usually do.

Then we talked about "Creative People". Most of the students come up with all those names like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, DR. Tun Mahatir Muhammad, Einstein, Thomas A.E, etc. Why are they creative? obviously, because they did things that not many people did, that made them known as creative people. But actually, we are all creative people. Why are we? first we need to know what is creative.

"What is Creative?"
We will talk about it in the next lecture session. And we will discuss the very interesting topic which is "Creative vs Creativity"

Bye for now!!

Welcome!

To my creative studies Blog!
Basically, I will documents most of our lecture's content on each week.
so...
yeah..

see you in the next post!
